YOUNG ARTIST COMPETITION

This competition is open to all high school students, with the winner receiving a prize of $1,000 as well as being a guest conductor for the RVSB's May 2023 concerts. Second place receives $500, third place receives $300, and all three will have their names and bios printed in our program. 
 
To apply: 
1) Record and upload an 3-5 minute audition video to YouTube on your own channel. This video should be a demonstration of your conducting in front of a live ensemble. The music selection and ensemble size does not matter and could be anything from a large ensemble to a sectional or a chamber group. The video should be from within the last six months.
 
2) Write a response to each of the following prompts on the application:

• What is the role of a conductor?

• How have you demonstrated leadership within your instrumental ensemble?​

• ​What are your musical goals for the future?

Fill out the online application below and include the link to your video on the form.
 
Once chosen, the competition winner and Artistic Director will meet to select the work to be performed at the May 20th and 21st concerts.

The deadline for this submission is March 17th.
